I have been asked to connect the curriculum photocopier up to the admin PCs so that they can all print to it. The curric IP address is 10.240.10.* and the admin is 10.240.12.* they are both on the same subnet. If I set up a trust will this work or is there another way to do this.

Thanks

they are both on the same subnet.

Are you sure?

e.g can you ping the curric printer from an admin pc?

If so, no trust needed, just set up the photocopier as a printer on the admin server and your in business :)

Yes they are both on 255.255.255.0 sub

I am not onsite to try but I will have to link the switches together to be able to communicate with each other.

Ah - no they're not unfortunately - they've got the same subnet mask which just means both networks are limited to approx 254 addresses.

They are on their own separate subnets :(

As I don't know of an easy method of doing what you want I'll leave it to the big boys to help you out.

you best bet would be give the admin server a static second IP on the curric range then setup to the printer as normal and it should work (i think!)

You will need a router or change your subnet mask on both networks to 255.255.252.0. or the above might be simpler and more secure if it works.
