Converting SMART Notebook to Interwrite Workspace

Hi,

 

We are currently looking at replacing some ageing damaged and unreliable SMART boards. One of the options is the Dell Interactive Projector S500WI (here).

 

The software supplied with the projector is eInstructions Interwrite Workspace (here). We have a number of old SMART files in .notebook format which we would ideally like to convert.

 

Does anyone know of any tools which could do this?

 

One alternative we have is to use the SMART Notebook Express to play the files back - but it would be nice to get staff to only use a single piece of software.

When we had a similar dilema we decided to stick with Smartboards. Software compatibility, license issues and teachers reluctant to learn to use alternate equipment was part of the decision, but there were a number of reasons why Smart was better for us.

 

I think Promethian has a sort of Smart compatibility mode. I'm not sure about Dell interactive.

The Promethean boards can open the SMART Noteboo files - but the staff here we not too keen on them.

 

What were your other reasons for choosing the SMART solution?

 

I have contacted eInstruction, and am waiting for a response.

Well, we also wanted to future proof so smart's 800 series was an all round winner with HD/3D ready projection. Concerns about expensive interactive projector pen replacement, and how we'd hide cables if there was no board were also a factor.

 

Smart Notebook does have an export facility to convert to powerpoint, html, pdf etc. So if Interwrite can import any of those, that's a start.

Just received the response from eInstruction...

 

The simple answer is no, there is not a direct path to import a SMART based lesson. However, what some other schools have done is export the SMART lesson into Powerpoint and then import it as best possible into Workspace!
