garethEds Posted October 5, 2011 Posted October 5, 2011 EVening, Does anyone know (before I scan the registry in work tomorrow) what registry setting is changed to stop Sibelius 7 checking for updates on startup? Avid do not provide an MSI for this software so no transform. Gutted. Gareth
burgemaster Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Hi mate, Can I ask how you installed Sib 7 please? We have a pack of 4 x DVD9`s arrive! I really dont want to manually install on each PC. Thanks in advance 1
garethEds Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 Hi, From talking to our technician (who I'll ask to comment) - we installed the first CD to our network application area. I was annoyed that it didn't come as an MSI but onwards we went. The new licence server was installed and configured correctly. Using Impero we made sure every machine was on and then run the installation through the command line (which Impero allows us to do). It has gone on 20 machines in the library without any issues - except for the 'Upgrade issue'. Hope this helps, Gareth
burgemaster Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 Thanks Gareth, Do you know whether this also installed the 3 x DVD9 Content disks also?? Just found this guide for setup switches How install Sibelius silently on Windows 1
garethEds Posted October 6, 2011 Author Posted October 6, 2011 No - we haven't installed the 3 x DVDs which hold the sounds. I'm not sure if we will need to - I'll report back if the Head of Music complains :-) Some changes made this morning might help you... We downloaded the Sibelius708b8 full update today. We updated the 20 machines that had been the test install and the speed increase on load was amazing. Definately noticable. So we have now updated our MDT2010 to offer the option to install Sibelius 7. It works - we are happy. Gareth 1
burgemaster Posted October 6, 2011 Posted October 6, 2011 I've noticed on the install disk there is a "InstallerData" folder containing various samples and patches. I might try and copy all the samples and patches from the "installerdir" on the 3 disks to this one folder and see if they get installed. Thanks
m122794 Posted November 28, 2011 Posted November 28, 2011 This works - copy all the InstallerData files to a common "InstallerData" folder somewhere on the server and run the installer. Don't forget that there are also some sound files on the main install disk !
