Windows 7 & Office 2007 Hyperlink issues

Is anyone having issues with Windows 7 and Office 2007 hanging when moving up folders in the hyperlink dialogue box?

 

The issue isnt around when logged in as an Admin... only seems to be an issue for staff and children..

 

Could the issue be that Office is using the UNC path instead of using mapped drive names?

 

 

The attached picture shows the number 1 is the button pressed that cases the machines to hang... and then number 2 the UNC path instead of a drive letter...

 

is there anyway to force the drive letter instead of the UNC path to test the theory?
