I need the server error after that. That message is a generic message I tell the system to say when you save the config

There is no error message, you just can't do anything or browse AD.

I am sorry but it looks as this is not getting anywhere.

Would it be possible for you to try to get it working on IIS6, and see all the problems, then post the installation instructions?

I know, that what I was following but they are worng.

I follow all the steps very carfully and if you look backward in this post you will see some of the mistakes that were already found.

As I understand these are the old instructions from version 6 and it was never will tested or and re-written for 7.

It was rewritten for HAP+ v7, most of the stuff didn't need changing though

Nick, it will be great if you get it working on IIS6.

It is just that this backward and foreward, testing doesn't work. I think for the best you should test it on your site.

What permissions do you have on the ~/app_data folder? In IIS6 the AppPool will either run as NetworkService or as aspnet_wp. MAke sure these have permissions on that folder.

 

It should work no problem under IIS6.

And Internet Guest Account – modify

 

As you said to enable Anonymous Access in IIS.

There is no user called aspnet_wp.

I have just installed a new web server 2008 x64 and they gone through your setup instructions and I am getting

I have gone through and checked all the settings and everything seems to be ok, I did have an issue with the HAP user and had to use the script on your codeplex site apart fro that everything went smoothly untill this.

The script only does the top level, you need to then go to the app data folder and edit the HAP permissions

Well I have managed to do it but it was really strange, at the app_data level I was unable to add the HAP user. so I ended up using the icacls cmd on the app_data folder and gave it read permissions then I was able to go in via explorer and give it write permissions too. I could have done it all using icacls I suppose, but it was just the process I went through.
