Time server problems

Seem to be having a few issues surrounding PC time at the moment...we have a linux box which is our gateway running as a time server to the internet, our primary DC then syncs it's time with that then the rest of the servers get their time from there, and so on.

 

Everything from PDC down to the clients is working fine and the time is syncing as it should, if i change the time on the PDC the clients and servers then receive that time etc. The issue is somewhere between synchronisation of time between PDC and the linux gateway machine.

 

Event logs recoreded this on PDC: The time provider NtpClient is currently receiving valid time data from gw1.archwaydmz.local,0x1 (ntp.m|0x1|0.0.0.0:123->10.7.116.51:123).

 

Which is a blatent lie as the time is currently about 30 seconds ahead if i do "ntpdate" on the linux box. I've had our resident linux expert check over the config of the gateway and he says it looks fine, I've checked over the settings of the PDC time service and they also look fine. Can anyone think of ANYTHING i can check? as i've ran out of ideas

 

Also all servers are VMs running on VMware but the vmware tools time sync is definitely disabled before anyone mentions that

Can you do a test to ntp.uk pool? if thats works then its linux box

What about disabling the sync in the DCs to the Linux box, and allow VMWare to handle the time?

I tried testing it to somewhere other than our linux gateway and still got no change

That does work but i'd prefer not to do it that way if i can as it isn't as reliable (which i know is an odd statement to make considering the circumstances )

Changed the time offset setting to a lower figure and changed the announceflag from an internal hardware source to an external source. Now syncing correctly
