Hi all,

We have purchased 2 new servers and will be using HyperV.

I was thinking of creating VMS with a 250gb vhd e.g our fileserver VM will have two 250gb vhd's instead of a 500gb vhd.

I have had problems in the past with vmware and large 500+gb vm's and backing them up.

Do you think this is a good idea?

We will be backing up the vms to a NAS. Can "windows backup" backup the entire vhd while the VM is running on hyper v? (Shadaow copy)

Thanks

We have 3x 500Gb VHDs drives attached to our file storage VM and are having no issues backing them up with Microsoft SC DPM with them running on a Hyper-V server.

Ok thanks, would you suggest having a seperate VHD for the OS and another VHD for data in case we need to get the server up quickly for example?
