Paused Printer, Resume one document?

Hey,

 

Bit of an odd question, but is there any way to allow a printer to print one document in a paused queue?

 

Trying to work out how to allow only a few certain prints through a paused queue, but don't want to pause each document and restart the queue incase others print during that unpaused time.

 

Tried to restart/unpause the document, but the queue paused seems to override it.

Paused printer overrides all the rest, so highlight all the documents and pause then unpause the printer, then highlight the document you require and hit the resume, that should be it.

The problem is if someone else prints during the "unpaused" part, it'd print it still. Was trying to see if there was a way around that

The only way of really doing what you want is to use some kind of print management software (I think anyway). We use something called PCounter which has a setting called 'Superpause'. All documents going to the printer (a colour one for example) get paused by default and then a member of staff can just resume what they need.

You can set print jobs higher priority, so if jobs are printing, it'll be the next printed (even at the bottom of the list).

 

Right click the job and choose 'Properties', then move the priority bar.

 

If there's a paused job in the queue however, this will not work. This appears to be by design.
