One of our schools is using Bromcom to take registers, picking up details of class lists from SIMS via an overnight query task. Apparently, having deleted pupils from classes in SIMS, the pupils do not get removed from the registers in Bromcom. Anyone come across this issue before and / or know how to resolve it?

Thanks in advance

Hi Waldronm2000,

Have you reported this to the Helpdesk as there is very little that any other users could do to provide you with a solution?

We have experienced this before and have put additional logic into the BroDIS import processes to deal with it.

Essentially it was an early issue where the system could not react to getting NULL data responses.

Day one - Student A exists in SIMS import runs and Student A is imported into Bromcom

Day two - Student is "DELETED" from SIMS, not made a leaver but actually deleted. Nothing remains within the SIMS database to link this action with the student imported yesterday and as such the data in bromcom is now in place and static. Import runs, no data is returned for the system to react to for Student A.

You can see the obvious problem in the above.

As did our support team when they first encountered it, we expected that even erroneously entered students would remain as a data item, albeit one with identical start/end dates.. this does not turn out to always be the case.

The support team should be able to remedy this problem with the latest software releases and will be able to work through the issue with you.

Regards

John
