FMS, Windows 2003 R2 server and citrix/terminal services error since latest update

Before the latest update to FMS (the big one where everything changed in it) it was working great on the school's Citrix XenApp farm, with 2 users using it.

Since then though, the Finance Database Selector tool doesn't work. They now get a 'Access violation at address &C82EB49 in module 'ntdll.dll'. Write of address 000140F1.'

Could someone advise what is causing this? The school has 2 FMS databases due to them changing status to an academy.

Any hints would be good, as the current line I've been told is 'FMS isn't supported on terminal services' which kinda messes a lot of stuff up!!

The only time i've seen that type of error is when trying to run something in an isolation environment from a desktop app - it worked fine when running through secure gateway.

I guess

'FMS isn't supported on terminal services'
is the ultimate answer through, run it locally or ditch it.

It's funny how they like to tell you, you are not supported. I hope this was after they suggested KB111788...?

No databases to select in Finance Database Selector

After Summer 2011 upgrade I cannot access any databases in the Finance Database Selector

The SS_FMS_Select.ini has changed in the Summer 2011 upgrade. An example of the new format is below :

[sELECTORPATH]
Current Company Selection=02
Companies File Location=C:\Program Files\SIMS\FMSSQL\
FMS Location=C:\Program Files\SIMS\FMSSQL\
DfE LA Code=111
DfE School Code=1111
Include LA School Info in Shortcut=NO

Please edit the SS_FMS_Select.ini which can be found in C:\Program
Files\SIMS\FMSSQL to the above format which will resolve the issue.

You may have DfES rather than DfE or LEA rather than LA please change this to DfE and LA.

Please contact your Local Support Unit if you need further assistance.

Hi Localzuk,

I would like to investigate into this matter for you, please can you provide the case reference in which the above information was provided.

I can confirm that this information in relation to Terminal Services is incorrect, but would like to get to the root cause of your issue.

Please contact me on 01234 832062.

Many Thanks

Lia

Open Finance Database Selector, tools > update license. See what it says, might have to re-enter the code.

Are you an Academy? Capita's been bundling 4 db license keys as part of the relicense - you get 2 by default. Do you only have 2?
