Is there a very simple way to redirect http://mail.domain.com to https://mail.domain.com in IIS?

I found the simplest way to do this for OWA was to edit the default page in the root to put in a META refresh tag. Another option would be to use the URL Rewrite module if you are using IIS7.

 

My first approach was to set up a different HTTP-only website and remove the HTTP binding from the site with OWA on it, but that caused problems with things that expected to find a few things only using HTTP (can't quite remember what now though, might have been something to do with autodiscover?).

Copy and paste the following code between the and tags in your web.config file in your website root directory.

 

Is that in the OWA folder? If so web.config has no section.

Redirection from http to https for OWA Exchange 2010

 

When you try to access yourcompany.com: The Leading Your Company Site on the Net you got an error Http Error 403.4 – Forbidden

 

So we can add custom error and redirect to yourcompany.com: The Leading Your Company Site on the Net

 

 

 

1). Start IIS by clicking on Start -> Administrative Tools -> Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.

 

 

2). Left click on "Default Web Site" folder and double click on Error Pages in the right pane (you may need to scroll down).

 

3). Here comes the final puzzle, Click on "Add..." and type the following:

Status code: 403.4

Response action: Select "Respond with a 302 redirect

Absolute URL: https:// yourcompany.com: The Leading Your Company Site on the Net (substitude with your own address)

 

Test your OWA by using http. It should redirect to https, if it does not you may need to restart the IIS, and check your steps.
