codec pack windows 7

so whats the best codec pack for windows 7 as i need to deploy one to our win 7 clients

I use VLC Media player and Windows Media Player and between them they've always played everything i've thrown at them.

I used the Combined Community Codec Pack in the past i used K-Lite but the CCCP seems to be better.

I've read soemwhere on here that using codec packs is not advised. Apparently they often use older codecs which are less secure, in order to get around copyright laws and all that stuff. I still use them however and the one I use is K-lite Mega Codec pack, just because I know it works and does what I want.

W7 has lots of codecs, for the most part a codec pack is not required unlike XP.

Pretty much the same here. Not had a problem so far with videos as in if it doesn't play with WMP then VLC will play it.

W7 with Media player and seem to be covering everything for me here.

i tend to deploy shark 007 win7(or vista for xp/vista) codecs works as an msi plays most things

One annoying omission of Win7 by default is Matroska (.mkv) support. As mentioned previously the Combined Community Codec Pack is your best bet for a codec page at the moment.
