We have been given some hp xw4600 workstations. Some have a BIOS password so I cannot get them to start up on CD/DVD.

Does anyone know how to reset the bios? The most promising sites are blocked here.

Thanks, that's done the job

EDIT: May have spoken too soon... leaving it out while I shoot off for an appointment.

You need to faff with the password jumper as well - HP manual is @ http://h50146.www5.hp.com/lib/doc/manual/workstation/hp_workstation/WS_UG_xw4600_STRG_453080-001_screen.pdf if you can get to it, and page 149 has the specific procedure you need.

PM if you can't get to the PDF and I'll e-mail it to you, 6.7mb big so might need to be a GMail jobbie

Okay... I'm back... not sure if it was the battery being left out or the holding down the CMOS button but I'm in.

Thanks for the advice.
