SYNACK Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Interesting, did your parse out the HTML from the full site or are you passing it through a service to rip out the content before it hits the phone?

I was looking at doing it with a very simmilar library under .net and then chucking that into a webservice so that the hard work could be done on a server and the phone could just request stripped XML from the webservice. There's plenty of horsepower to do it on the phone itself its just a question of memory and bandwidth usage. Edited August 28, 2011 by SYNACK

Or would you still send data normally just receive stripped down info? Will have to take a look at that wrapper looks like it saves lots of work lol Steve
SYNACK Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 The service can act how you want it to, you could also configure it to grab authentication information for the session and pass that through allowing you to post via a stripped down XML bit aswell. It just means that you need to trust the upstream service. If you host it yourself then this is not an issue, likewise if EG hosts it but you are right full features requires the authentication information. Assuming the parsing rules are compatible then is is easy enough to transfer them over to a service modle at a later date if wanted. The one I was using was the HTMLAgilityPack which it looks might be compatible, expression wise with the Apple one above. The one issue with HTML scrapeing is if someone changes the html on the server side (site redesign) at which point you have to tweak it a bit. Looks like you are doing well though.
