dalsoth Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 Hi Guys I have been trying to get WDS/PXE to use the DBAN utility. I want to be able to boot up into syslinux and boot non Wim images such as Dell utilities and DBAN as an option before selecting to WDS/MDT. Another Edugeeker was helping me as he has it working but i am stuck and need some advice from anyone who has done this before. I have followed this guide: http://www.syslinux.org/wiki/index.php/Special:Search/WDSLINUX (site seems to be down at the moment) I have got the WDSlinux bit working and have a menu appear but do not know where to put the iso files for utilities such as DBAN. I was told just to stick the ISO in the \remoteinstall\boot\x86 folder with all of the pxeboot files and stuff but when i do this, the DBAN iso does not do anything when selected from the menu. I also have not extracted anything out of the ISO. I have tried hundreds of little changes based on syslinux commands and stuff but none of it works as its not relevant to a WDS server. Thanks!

MrEprise Posted August 31, 2011 Posted August 31, 2011 Have you tried putting dban.iso outside of the x86 subfolder or rather putting x86 as part of the path, e.g. APPEND iso initrd=/x86/dban.iso. I have a feeling that the x86 subfolder is not the tftp root folder.

munozjohn Posted September 12, 2018 Posted September 12, 2018 Sorry to re-live an old thread but.. how did you create an IMG of DBAN? All I could find was an ISO. Google isn't turning up much help.

Duke5A Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Wow, this is rehashing memories. I haven't used this setup in a number of years. When I started getting devices that required UEFI booting (Surface Pros) I abandoned this. IMG files are disk images. 7-Zip can open them. I had to do something goofy to generate them so Sys Linux would use them. Anyways, I still have all my old stuff. Attached to this post is my dban image. Use this snippet for the menu config: label dban menu label DBAN kernel memdisk append initrd=/img/dban.img dban.zip 1
