andyturpie Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Hi Guys, Looking for recomendations for a decent black desktop case for my new kit at home. Would love 2x external 5 1/4"s and 4x HDD bays and full ATX compatablity. I am not looking at HTPC, but just something pleasing on the eye, but at a reasonable cost. Look forward to hearing from you!
jamesfed Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Are we talking a gaming level or case or more something with just a tone of drive bays? I've always liked the fractal design cases like this one - Fractal Design Core 3000 Midi Tower Chassis - Aria PC However at the moment I've got an Asus TA-M11 - Asus TA-M11 Midi Tower Case with No PSU - Black/Silver: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories
andyturpie Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Hi Jamesfed, not really a gamer although the kit is of high spec, just to say I am wanting to move away from the tower case (I have an Antec NSK1600b) , to one which will sit on my desk and I can plonk my TFT on the top of it.
jamesfed Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 You are going to be hard pushed to find a case that you can put a monitor on with that many drive bays - Closest I know of is this - Novatech Opera Media Centre Case 2x ODD and 2x 3.5" HDD It is full ATX though... 1
jamesfed Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Something like this would work - Silverstone La Scala HTPC ATX Black no PSU (SST-LC17B) - dabs.com Cost is pretty high though and you need a PSU. 1
andyturpie Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Your right - it is a big ask with the abount of bays - might be pretty obscure or non exisitant. I have had a look at Lian Li and Silverstone etc and althought they do very nice HTPC cases they still don't manage to fulfill my disk bay criteria, if I have exhausted all channels of search, I may go down the route of 2 bays, but I fancy 4 drives on 2 different raid arrays ( only just because I can lol).
andyturpie Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Ahh now I didn't see the LC17 on my travels - that looks like the very fellow for me
jamesfed Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Ahh now I didn't see the LC17 on my travels - that looks like the very fellow for me Grand stuff - just take note that it needs a power supply as well
