JonR Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Hi Im having trouble installing printers on my new 2008 R2 server, the local subnet is fine but when trying to install a printer on a different subnet It fails. When adding a printer it asks for a tcp/ip address and port name after which it trys to identify the network card on the printer (all integral network models) and as it cant detect it comes back as generic. I accecpt the default generic card and continue to add the driver. In the print management it shows up as offline and I cant print a test page. The printer is connected to the network I can get the printers embedded web page and I can still install it again on our old W2K server. Any ideas?
Stuart_C Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 I'd be tempeted to guess somehting along the lines of network issues (wrong default gateway etc) or firewall issues (??) (not allowing traffic between the subnets). Generally you would get that if the server can't talk to the print device. Can you ping it? it it's IP correct etc. etc. 1
