craigg Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 How can I set a default role for all machines in the MDT database? I've been trying to do it via the CustomSettings.ini by adding Role001=RoleName to the different sections but can't seem to get it to pick up. The image used before had a lot of apps pre-installed which caused a few issues. I've since thinned out this image and created a role called base apps which applies generic software to the image on install. The issue is that I have over 200 machines in the database and want to make sure that this role applies to all of them and any new ones that are added. Any tips?
TobyS Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Hi Craig, You may have seen it already, but there is a very useful freeware roles tool over at myitforum.com, link here - [apparently I need a post count of +2 to post links - so see below ] , - it allows you to automate the edit of customsettings.ini Im afraid my own experience of database manipulation within MDT / BDD has been frustrating to say the least. If you have have a licence agreement in place that allows you to purchase SCCM CALs cheaply, I would recommend this as the best couse of action for true automated ZTI deployments. Best, Toby
TobyS Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 and finally.. the link SCCM And Roles Wizard via MDT Database - Schuff at myITforum.com 1
