neathneathneath Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I have extracted the necessary files via the deployment console and copied them to a flash drive. When running the Solus3AgentInstaller.bat file all appears to install properly and even copies files to folder on client pc. However, right at the last minute, the program bombs out with an error message: "Solus 3 Agent Setup Wizard ended prematurely" The process then stops and the install is rolled back and the files and folders created by the install are automatically deleted. The problem seems to be at the point where the solus3 service is installed I am logged on as a domain admin on an XP Sp3 client PC, install files are on a flash drive. I'm wondering whether it may be a permissions issue / windows server 2008 R2 firewall issue? Any ideas please.
wpjon Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 I had a problem with this when I tried it, on the page of the setup where it asks for the path to the public key it was putting a "/" after the path to the key. I had to manually find the key at this stage and then the install went through fine.
computerguy85 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 You need to disable the firewall on both the client machine and the server. Then it should run fine.

I ran the install again and found as above that the "/" was being appended to the key path. I am now getting this error message - i am logged on as domain admin (which would be part of local admins group) Any further ideas please?
computerguy85 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Have you disabled the firewall on the server for the domain?
neathneathneath Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 Have you disabled the firewall on the server for the domain? I don't want to disable the firewall completely. Been looking at adding an exception rule but can't work out whether its an INBOUND or OUTBOUND RULE. I would think its INBOUND - tried adding the specific TCP port 52965 to no avail - still blocking. Any ideas?
computerguy85 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Try disabling the firewall at the domain level and then deploying the agent again to see if that is the issue? If it works then look into exceptions if it doesn't you know the problems else where.
neathneathneath Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 The domain profile is OFF in the firewall. I'm now getting this error (tried it on several pc's all with windows xp sp3:
computerguy85 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 Why are you running the manual install? Try removing it from add and remove programs and then going onto your server and deploying it to that machine?
neathneathneath Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 Our LEA manage the server and it takes quite a long response time. Installing the agent would save some time for all concerned, I think.
computerguy85 Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 So you can't go into solus3 on the server and deploy it to a workstation because your lea manage it?
dfergusson Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 (edited) Which LEA is this if you dont mind me asking, we in simular boat. but our LEA is pushing out solus3 from central server and not our sims server. I have seen that error but only when pushing out solus 3 when no one log onto computer. I need to spend more time on our install but I have put it on the back burner for time being, using old method to install summer update. Edited August 19, 2011 by dfergusson
matt40k Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 @neathneathneath - Is it RM? Do you have a software policy? Is this happening on all the machines? What happens if you logon as the local administrator?
neathneathneath Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 So you can't go into solus3 on the server and deploy it to a workstation because your lea manage it? Strictly speaking yes, but in the meantime we have worked out how to do it ourselves

neathneathneath Posted August 24, 2011 Author Posted August 24, 2011 Got to the bottom of the manual install problem - Dot Net Version 4 was not installed. Abandoned the manual install as we have sussed out how to install the agent and the updates via the deployment console 1
