Profile Re-Direction.

Hi all,

 

I'm looking for some help on redirecting profiles to the main DC - I have played around with it and seem to have got it working BUT I can't seem to get control of the .V2 folder without knackering the profile up, if I take ownership or even add Admin as viewer I get temporary profile issues.

 

Is there an easy way of doing it ?? How does everyone else do theirs ?

Why do you need to take control of the profile?

 

There is a gpo setting to add administrator to the profile which I think takes place once a user logs on.

I want to take control of it so I can have Outlook automatically setup, and also adding shortcuts to certain users desktops.

 

Do you know which GPO it is ?

Group Policy Recommendations for Roaming User Profiles: Group Policy

 

Add the Administrator security group to the roaming user profile share. Computer config - admin templates - system - logon

 

Users desktops we direct to a folder within their my documents easy to add things then.

Computer Config>Admin Templates>System/User Profiles>Add the administrators users group to roaming user profiles.

 

Adding automatic Outlook config I think can be done on exchange server and to add shortcuts you can use gpp

To automatically config Outlook for exchange use the Office ADM templates

1. For exch 2007/2010 - Outlook should use autodiscover to configure MAPI profiles, it will use the internal SCP to discover and configure.
