rh91uk Posted August 10, 2011 Posted August 10, 2011 Hi all We are rebuilding our Mac server. Now, our machines join to OD and AD fine and I have tested the user (I have set up software restrictions for a bank of users and they are restricted when I log on) and it pulls down OD policies ... however in WGM no Computers appear It is really spooky as when I try and add the iMac manually with it's afp:// address it says it exists, but obviously that is useless to me as I need to put them into Computer groups to pull settings down. ideas? Cheers R
rh91uk Posted October 21, 2011 Author Posted October 21, 2011 anyone got any ideas about this? The problem seems to have reocurred!
amfony Posted October 23, 2011 Posted October 23, 2011 Hi there, are these mac's bound (rather then joined) to the OD master? Are they on the same or different subnet from the OD master? Have you configured these mac manually (configured computer accounts) and STILL does not show? (thats weird) ill probably be of minimal help but Ill be interested to hear how this is resolved
DMcCoy Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Are they in the same vlan as the server? it uses broadcast to display the machines. You can always bind the machines to OD to get them to show if they aren't in the same vlan.
_Bat_ Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I'm having this issue too. I couldn't spend too long trying to solve it, so I added them manually, albeit with slightly different names (to get around the "already exists" issue). It sets the policies by mac address, so as long as that is set correctly, the name shouldn't matter. I've only had this problem since the OD server was moved to a different vlan. Macs are already bound to OD.
rh91uk Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Thanks all, the issue was the need to set up trusted binding in the policies in Server Admin for OD 1
