Epson C900 folding the print out

I have a epson c900.

 

The print quality is fine, but the paper is folded about 2.5 inches down the page. There is no print on the part that has been folded and the printer continues to print on the remainder of the page - just 1.5 cm lower then it should be! When the printer feeds in the second page of the document, the printer then jams.

Sounds like your solenoids need cleaning, and/or replacing if they're sticking. But it's not something that's a 5 min job really.

Thanks Steve. How would I know if the solenoids were sticking?

Short answer is you don't, without checking. Could be the rollers, but then it'd most likely not do it on the same place everytime, and/or not even pick the sheet up.

Just to add further detail...

 

Once the second page starts to print, I get an error message telling me that I am printing on the incorrect paper size.

 

I know there are many solenoids...which one/s need replacing?

Well from the service manual it says:

 

Manual Paper Feed Solenoid (SL1)

Transport Roller Solenoid (SL2)

Timing Roller Pressure Solenoid (Sl3)

Cleaner Pressure Flapper Solenoid (SL4)

Second Transfer Roller Pressure Solenoid (Sl5)

Fuser Loop Flapper Solenoid (SL6)

 

So if it's paper size etc, I'd say most likely 2-3-5. Hard to say which one exactly.

Honestly no idea, other than the normal. Epson etc Sure they do spares.

 

But personally I'd try just cleaning them first (Assuming you're happy doing the opening etc, but then you'd need to do it to replace it anyway)

 

But as always if you're not happy doing it, don't. Don't muck something up even more, if you're not confident As I said, can't even say 100% that's the issue, just likely it is.
