badders Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 We have 30 Terminal Server/RDS CAL's for our current terminal server (2008) and will be building a new terminal server (2008 R2)during summer, can these licences be migrated or do we need R2 licences?
joe90bass Posted July 22, 2011 Posted July 22, 2011 You can use the same licences - or at least that's what I've been told and have been doing for a while now! The unfortunate thing is you can't migrate the licences if installed on 2008 or prior O/S but have to reactivate with the Clearing House on reinstall of the license server, which is what I will find myself doing next week. If you're not reinstalling the license server then the last bit doesn't apply to you! Apparently if RDS licensing is installed on 2008R2 then you can now migrate to a new licensing server 1
