Some glass tubes are tempered to withstand 3000°C. Some metals cant withstand that heat so yeah its possible.

but once you take it out the flow its going to cool and solidify... so you could just wait and harvest it after it cools.

The chemistry changes as it cools. They do need fresh lava to see what gasses are present. Could one day be useful in prediction of time and ferocity of eruptions.

It's the scale of that volcano that I find so extraordinary. I'd love to do that, though. What a great job collecting lava would be.
