jenwilson Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Shortly we will have the following available as we have moved to a new wireless vendor - (All purchased from Siracom UK) 39 x AP320 802.11abgn Wireless Access Points - 3 years old 8 x AP302 802.11abg (n capable with license upgrade) Wireless Access Points - 2 years old 2 x MC3050 Wireless Controllers licensed as a HA pair - 3 years old Not sure how the licensing works with the above, you may need to re-license them on a transfer of ownership. Looking to see if any school in the Lancashire/NW area is using Meru and might be interested in them (not sure at the moment whether it would be gratis or a small fee, haven't seen what paperwork we need to do yet). Regards, Jen.
andydis Posted July 18, 2011 Posted July 18, 2011 Hi Jen , we have a meru network and would be glad of a couple of wireless AP's going spare if someone doesnt take the whole kit from you. thank you, can i ask why you moved FROM meru?
jenwilson Posted July 18, 2011 Author Posted July 18, 2011 Hi Andy, We decided to go with Cisco as we were making a major expansion of our Wireless network (300 to 1000 APs) and we already had 300 Cisco autonomous APs that we could convert to lightweight and re-use. It meant that Cisco had a 250 AP cost advantage over Meru (and Aruba which we also looked at). Could I ask everyone who responds to indicate their school/location please (saves me having to search for it), thanks. Also, just so you aren't dissapointed, you should know that we may just go with something like giving the kit to a local school that has no wireless network yet, nothings been decided. Just trying to get some other options than re-cycling the kit. Regards, Jen.
pritchardavid Posted July 19, 2011 Posted July 19, 2011 (edited) Very Intresting!!! We need to sort out our wireless system we havent even got any controller switches!!! This would really help us out, we get loads of loss of singal and gets very slow at times Were using x19 HP procurves 420 at the momment, so would be nice to upgrade for faster and better range, again we would pass ours to other schools, we need defo need more would be intrested I reckon depending on cost? and if you ship to here? jenwilson Posted August 31, 2011 Author Posted August 31, 2011 We are still looking for interest from local schools (Lancashire or North West UK) if possible. The kit hasn't gone anywhere yet (in fact I only started pulling it yesterday). Regards, Jen.
ccp Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 We are currently looking at an entire iverhaul of our Wireless network. At present we have disparate domestic access points with no method of control. I have been looking into Meru and they seem like a very good brand so would be very happy to discuss terms if interested - we can also arrange courier too Thanks in advance Dav
EPCHS Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 Hello, We're from the NW (Ellesmere Port), if you're interested, we'd be more than happy to take them off your hands if you still have these. Thanks, Lee
jenwilson Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Hi Lee, can you send me some more details about your school esp. (general school details, size etc.), any existing wireless, why you want the meru kit, whether you have any IT bods to look after it etc. Regards, Jen.
