Connect to home network through subdomain

I have a web hosting plan with CSNewMedia and a domain attached to it called rikev.net. Is it possible to make a sub-domain and have it point to my home network on a dynamic IP? Example, pointing to home.rikev.net:7777 to let people access a Terraria server on Port 7777 using my domain name instead of an IP.

Well you can't create dns records to point to IP:Port. You can only have it pointing to IP. As for using it on a dynamic IP, you could you use something like dyndns.com.

You could use a dyndns subdomain which you can usually set up to update right from your router then use router port fowarding to map whatever points you want internally to externally and use a CNAME record to point from your subdomain to the dyndns address transparently.

Syn, how does that work? I don't even know what a CNAME is or how to set one up.

@CAM - A CNAME is just like an A record but it points to a domain rather than an IP so its kind of like an MX record. You should be able to set it up in the control pannel from your provider for the domain name or simply email their tech support asking for a CNAME from subdomain.yourdomain.com to yourIP.dyndns.com. It should be quite a quick thing for them to do or reasonably simple through the control panel for your domain depending on which software they use to manage it.
