Or Grand Prix as they'd prefer we call it. What a farce - changing the rules midseason (which is against the rules). No, sorry - they changed the rules *mid-event* which is even more against the rules, and expect people to not moan?

Look at the state of the grid - ok a shake up might not be a bad thing, but when you have vehicles built around a technology to get the most out of it, you're going to end up with some right shambles like the McLarens today.

 

The FIA need shooting. Again. They are easily one of the most corrupt organisations around, possibly alongside UK government and Italian mafia.

I really enjoyed it. The best gualifiying session i've seen for a VERY long time.

FIA have been umming and arring about blown diffusers this week, so on Thursday they banned them.

Then they unbanned them, thinking it'll offer too much of a disadvantage to a few teams.

They they rebanned them with some exceptions for Renault powered cars.

 

As a result, cars that didn't rely at all on blown diffuser tech (Ferrari) are very, very strong. Cars that did (Red Bull, McLaren) are heavily affected. However, unlike the McLaren, the Red Bull wasn't designed entirely around that one feature. Whilst they are slower, they're not as heavily affected as McLaren, who built their entire car around a blown diffuser. Without that, they have absolutely no stability in the corners, and have been tweaking their car all weekend; effectively meaning they are using guesswork to set up a car from scratch. This has been painfully obvious in Quali where they have barely been able to make it into Q3.

 

I absolutely hate rules being changed on the fly - and rules like this MUST be changed between seasons for teams to be able to adjust, otherwise you're just raining on the entire championship.

they should just ban rules in F1, apart from the obvious 1st out of x laps wins. anything should go, including car mounted rocket launchers. it would be a much better spectator sport.

McLaren's downfall yesterday was the failing to turn the wheel nut the right way on JB's car, and failing to give LH enough juice to see him to the end of the race. This is school boy stuff and should simply not happen. The FIA might have messed things up but they only have themselves to blame for yesterdays result.

They didn't have any idea about the fuel consumption of lewis' car because of the rule changes.

Really? Because I could have sworn they took part in both the practices on Friday, the practice on Saturday, and the qualifying on Saturday - surely that will give them some understanding about fuel consumption levels?

They hadn't lapped the car on a full load of fuel, and the weather at both practices and qualifying was terrible so they had no idea what to expect.

What happened with Button's steward's enquiry into the wheel nut thing? I turned over to watch the Tour de France, only to see the driver of a French TV car take out some riders. Knocked one poor bod into a barbed-wire fence but he still managed to finish. He looked like an Egyptian mummy after they patched him up.

Mclarens didnt expect to be that much on pace because they barely got any "Dry" running. I think they expected a Valencia where they were a mile away from RBR/Ferrrari where as this weekend they could of scratched up a 3rd/4th. JB Managed because his performance in 1st stint wasnt there.

Ferrari must be laughing - yet again they 'buy' the Grand Prix so it works in their favor - they can't build a better car so end up having bribe the powers that be so it suits them. Quite pathetic - but something that's been on the cards a while now.
