6.3 onward padding file uploads with extra NULLs

Had an odd problem reported to me last week that I have now been able to reproduce.

 

When uploading any file in Extended mode, the files are padded with extra NULL bytes up to the value of the Size on disk as reported by Windows Explorer. For example, a file uploaded that was 11.9 KB (12,246 bytes) became 12.0 KB (12,288 bytes). For some files (e.g. JPEG files) this doesn't seem to affect them, but when trying to open an affected Word document, Word 2010 detects file corruption and will not open the file.

 

I've reproduced this on 6.3, and 6.5. I am on IIS 7.5, and not running behind a reverse proxy.

Just to confirm, I've rolled back to 5.4.5 on the same server and same IIS settings (other than the Web.config, of course), and the problem is not exhibited on that version.

We moved from HTML posts to a Web Service for silverlight uploads in v6, this shouldn't be causing the issue you are experiencing though. As all it's doing is taking the RAW binary feed from the client and saving it to a file.

 

Can anyone else confirm this?

BUMP as I'm not sure this got much visibility being posted on a Saturday as it was.

 

If anyone is running the same setup (IIS 7.5 and HAP+ 6.3 or 6.5), can they confirm that this definitely isn't happening for them (check the file size before and after upload)? And if so, which IT deity they are currently aligned to?

I too am seeing the same problem. I am alos using 6.5 in IIS 7.5.

I don't know why this is happening unfortunately. The upload stuff will be replaced in v8

After testing of this yesterday, we too are experincing this issue

Have just installed 7.9 and this is still happening.

Found the issue, it'll be fixed in the v7.10 release
