Hello,

Does anyone know if on an HP DL360 G7 server with a basic configuration supports multiple raid types? For example RAID 1 for the OS and 5 for the data. Or do we need a second RAID controller? I'm aware of course that there are so many different configurations of HP servers that this question may be a bit naive, so be kind!

Hi Ben,

I put a DL380 in recently and it supported this no problem.

Can't completely confirm on the 360 but I'd imagine it would.

Hi

Thanks for getting back. Just ploughing through the HP website. Very difficult to find pertinent info, so thanks for that. We bought a DL380 G7 not so long ago, but can't remember if it had that capability as we only used the one RAID.

It's all down to the Raid Controller configuration, with no cache they only support Raid 0-1 depending on cache enabling they will support more complex configurations.

See HP Smart Array RAID controllers

The P410i has not had the best of reviews but when used correctly is more than adequate for most applications.

For run of the mill purposes with the right cache they are fine if however you want the highest disk I/O you would be well advised to look at some of the other options.

All depends on which raid controller the model you are going to buy is using?

i think the raid card in the 380 and the 360 and the same (on some models)
