prevent user disconnecting windows 7 rdp sessions

Please could some one help. We have just found that students can disconnect remote desktop sessions when adminstrators are logged in.

 

Does anyone know a way to stop this in windows 7 we dont have this issue with windows xp.

How are they doing it. Is it simply by logging on to the machine whilst you are logged in. In which case it should be in the Local Policies section of group policy somewhere.

 

There is also an option under windows components\remote desktop services\connections Deny logoff of an administrator logged into the console session

Yes they just log on and it kicks me off. I will have a look at the gpo under the windows components\remote desktop services\connections Deny logoff of an administrator logged into the console session

I could not find this one under remote desktop service but I did find one under terminal services which I am trying.

Are you still running server 2003?

I think the 'Deny logoff of an administrator logged in to the console session' only stops someone else rdp'ing in and kicking you off but doesnt stop someone logging into the computer directly and kicking you off (that if if you dont respond within the time limit, default is 30 secs)

Did think of that and its a good idea but if you're already logged on, its more then likely you're working on it and dont want anyone to logon. You might not want them on because the computer isnt working properly or you may want to reboot or user being logged in may make it more difficult to troubleshoot etc.

 

Its also annoying that it no longer tells the user that you're logged on i.e. computer is locked. Only thing I can think of at the moment is to change the default time limit to disconnect sessions i.e. instead of 30 seconds set it to a few hours but that does mean the user will be sitting there waiting for a response (potentially).
