Sam_Brown Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 Hi guys, What's the safest and best way to shrink MSSQL log files? One of our databases Log files has just hit 120gig and the HDD it's on is almost out of space!
Gibbo Posted June 24, 2011 Posted June 24, 2011 (edited) This may help: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/mis-systems/12751-sims-ldf-file-nearly-17-gig.html There's also a thread on here containing the code of the batch file ETA - Here it is: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/how-do-you-do/56348-how-shrink-ldf-file.html Edited June 24, 2011 by Gibbo
Sam_Brown Posted June 24, 2011 Author Posted June 24, 2011 I managed to get it sorted yesterday using something similar. I was worried I'd done something stupid but the SQL I used looked the same as the SQL in the batch file so I can sleep easy tonight
