BT HomeHub 2.0 - USB

I have the BT HomeHub 2.0 which has a handy USB port. I can connect a USB memory stick to this and access this internally. I have been trying to get it to work over the internet but have not managed it - has anybody else tried this/got it working/can it be done?

do you mean over your home network or do you really mean over the internet?

I can access the USB stick over my home network no problem, but I cannot access it over the internet. The Hub seems to assign the memory stick with an IP address and I have tried port forwarding to this, but nothing. If the hub assigns an IP address to the stick I thought it would be possible somehow!
