pantscat Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hello How long has it been happening for? Have you looked at your server performance? Is anything peaking when this happens? Memory/CPU/Disk queue? Is it happening to all staff? or just some? A
RobBaxter Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Sounds to me more likely than not to attualy be on the exchange server end. I use Outlook 2007 on a Exchange 2010 SP1 system. When something is happening "Accross the Board" i like to look at the server first, more oftern than not, thats the place if at least not where the issue is, but where to fix it You might which to check that the Exchange database is nice and healthy, maybe a restart of the exchange server its self! Also i STRONGLY recommend to you to put in a "Upgrade Plan" ASAP to get your Exchange version up to date. 2003 to 2010 SP1 is a right mother of an upgrade and the longer you leave it, the harder it will be to make the change. Just a heads up!
Altyboys Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Yes it seems to be random i have had about 4 staff upto now i might be barking up the wrong tree but since i changed the ports on they internet options ( we use our own proxy and filter) the problem has stopped doesnot seem logical to me but?
RobBaxter Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 makes sense to me. If its the IE Proxy settings, that is also the "WIndows Proxy Settings". if you Exchange server is being referenced as "something external" no doubt windows trys to route the traffic via the proxy. Now it is possible that the exchange connections (if all routed via the proxy) are getting times out and told to wait for "connection spam" try adding the IP of your proxy as a Trusted IP, it should then be able to hammer your Exchange server for all its worth. See if that helps
Altyboys Posted June 22, 2011 Author Posted June 22, 2011 Thanks but the Proxy IPs are in the trusted sites
RobBaxter Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 Hums ... trusted sites should not limit its spam functionality in terms of physical connection... We trust it, but not from just breaking
sukh Posted June 22, 2011 Posted June 22, 2011 1. I'd upgrade your Exch server to the latest SP3 and rollup3. 2. Also mak sure your Outlook has the latest patches. 3. When staff are sending emails iwth attachements, does it ever get delieverd or not? 4. Can you reproduce the issue? 5. Find a usr who has the issue, try and recreate, send via OWA and test 6. Try another PC. Sukh
Altyboys Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 If it helps access freezes as well the problem is still happening on random staff outlook on the Macs we have works fine for the people who have the problem and also in OWA
sukh Posted June 23, 2011 Posted June 23, 2011 1.Then your issue is more towards the client end and not exchange itself. As it happends with Access too, I'd be inclined to focu on that. 2. If you have a standard images, I'd build a new PC and test that again. 3. If the issue still remanins, I'd build a vanilla versions and test. 4. Try in safe mode and see what happens, disabled add0ins etc...however, as it happends with Access this seems more of an app issues.
