I've got the Adobe Reader X MSI, deployed it via Active Directory, fine.

The only problem is the .pdf file icon doesn't seem to 'register' on the client so even though the Reader is installed and PDF files can be opened by double clicking them their icon is just the generic Windows one. Which is a little confusing.

Any ideas?

Sounds like it could be this issue...

http://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/ (scroll down to see fix)

Adobe Reader's ability to generate thumbnails for Windows Explorer, File->Open/Save dialogs, etc. is still broken, out of the box, on 64-bit systems. This is because Adobe still haven't produced a 64-bit version of their thumbnail generator (or much else, to be honest).

Fixing the thumbnail problem was more complicated than the preview handler one, but fixes for both can now be found below.
