You know you want to - .edugeek

Or just - .geek

Actually, I bet .geek would be a nice little earner, off to get a $185k bank loan, oh wait...

if microsoft purchased .microsoft. they create a blank A record poing to the webservers, that would meam users could go to http://microsoft/

Ah, of course

In that case, who wants to join me in a consortium to get .porn, we'll be billionaires with all the people going to http://porn/ :D

could be interesting to buy .intranet and let the mayhem ensue as everyone enters http://intranet/ and gets my website instead :D

do the same thing but with google. Fill the page full of ads and watch the profit come in!

I personally dont like this idea at all. I am not sure why exactly but it doesnt sit well.

Google will be fearing it badly, did you know huge amounts of people put "facebook" into the address bar to be taken to a google search result rather then facebook.com, all those search hits just went boom.

Actually a huge amount of people type edugeek rather then type edugeek.net into the location bar.

I don't know how well this is going to scale - there will end up being hundreds of root server records! Imagine the hammering the DNS root servers will take.
