WSUS Server Re-build

Hello,

 

I am currently re-setting up one of our servers due to a problem with the OS it was having. Previously one of its roles was WSUS and I am wondering if it is possible to re-import all the updates and approvals from the old WSUS installation. I have backed up all the WSUS content files before re-installing the OS on the server but I have only been able to find articles regarding moving WSUS from a old to a new server, not using the same server.

To be honest i wouldnt bother. I would install a fresh and let everything pick up. It wont take a huge amount of time to setup again.

and even if you religiously run the wsus cleanup tool a fresh install will still take up a lot less space ive found

Thanks for your replies guys. I decided to just configure it from scratch rather than try importing. Setup went fine and everything's coming back in. Just got to re-approve some updates now :|

You could have just set the old one as an upstream server to the new one.

I would still have been lazy though and put it on another server temporarily then reinstall and make the temp one the upstream.
