No, it isn't.

 

The way I got round this was to export the data into a Mysql data, rustle up a quick web interface and people can search on that, and then they can click on a number and it dials their extension and the number clicked.

 

TAPI compliance would be a brilliant idea.

Nope, if you mean the SIMS client - it's pretty dead really.

 

Third party apps all have nice features that do similar though, they rely on just exporting out the data somewhere or reading it live e.g. Groupcall Emerge has the app that lets you tap and call, but that's just showing the data in a phone, so it will of course work as the iphone is compliant.

 

Schoolcomms have a built in button, so when you click on send message / text it fires up schoolcomms, so i guess you'd need that level of integration into the client to do what you want, but that wouldn't come cheap or easy.

 

However, with the introduction of In-Touch, you never know what is on the horizon....

 

Do you use SLG? Could something be tweaked in there, as it probably allows some kind of on the fly directory / phone look up..

To be honest I think what localzuk has said is.probably the way forward - schedule a nightly import of telephone numbers into mysql and have it displayed in the intranet - they should then have it easy.

Probably not - possibly a two weekly import or something like that,

Thing is, you're talking a couple of thousand records maximum really. Why not do it nightly? It doesn't take much processing power...

I am looking at doing an app that exports users from SIMS straight to active directory.

 

Doing an app that exports to a web interface with tapi compliance shouldn't be too difficult.

If you are worried about the updates then why not work on a SIF based tool so that changes are pushed out when they are made. There are reasonably priced SIF Agents out there, and OpenZIS could be an option too.
