witch Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 I admit that I am an HTC newb but this is driving me up the wall. When I switch my phone off, it loses all the ringtones assigned to contacts. Most are downloaded, but not all - some were on the phone when I got it. The main default ringtone (Deep Space Nine -yes, well, I'm a geek, what can I say!) stays, but all the others don't. The text tone remains as well. What am I doing wrong?
Netwacky87 Posted June 16, 2011 Posted June 16, 2011 Having a quick look around, its noted that the ringtone should be under 300K (Although I think mine have been entire songs before!).... One person is saying a hard reset made the contacts ringtone rememeber the settings, but from my own experience I usually dump my ringtones into a folder called "media" and then assign... I know thats not much help but thats what I do and seems to work! Sorry Witch Mart
witch Posted June 16, 2011 Author Posted June 16, 2011 (edited) I remember I had to put the notification tone in the media folder. I have now put all these other tones in a folder - how do I use them? If I go to the person I get the same list I had before - how do I point it at the media folder? * I believe putting them in a folder will mean that they appear in the list - but they are already there Edited June 16, 2011 by witch
SkywOrca Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 It's possible that the system is losing track of your ringtones because they're not in the standard ringtones system folder. You can try downloading Ringdroid from the Market, which allows you to pick music files from your SD card, edit them (should you want to) to select just a section of the track, and then save the result back as a full ringtone. The editing feature is a little fiddly, but you could just select all and save that as a ringtone. You can also save tracks as notification tones too. Give that a whirl and see if it still loses your choices once they start appearing in the system ringtones list.
witch Posted June 17, 2011 Author Posted June 17, 2011 Ta - I will try but they are in the system ringtones list already..
Jamo Posted June 17, 2011 Posted June 17, 2011 I have always used Zedge which is in the market. It probably loses them because you don't have Nyan Cat as your ringtone YouTube - ‪Nyan Cat [original]‬
