As some of you may or not be aware, my post is being deleted (redundancy) and from 31st August I will be out of contract and a job. I have been looking furiously at the jobs market, but the thing I have noticed is a lot of posts are requiring certifications for everything (ITIL, Prince 2, MCP's) I have some money saved but I am kind of against the principle of paying out for certifications every couple of years to remain "current" (feeding the pockets of Bill Gates). I will

I am looking at other options too, such as retraining and apprenticeships for people over 25 (I am 29). What advice could some of you share? Stick with IT and attempt to do some certs? (and still struggle to obtain a job) Tried phoning nextstep but the advisor was pretty useless. I might try IT agencies such as Harvey Nash/FDM? There seems to be a lack of support for IT bods from so called career places.

thanks

list your experiance in your CV and go for jobs even if you dont have the relevant Certifications, Aslong as the job description matches your experience the Certifications shouldnt matter too much.
