Exchange 2007 and Outlook

Anyone got any ideas on this one?

 

Some users are being prompted to enter their credentials when opening Outlook 2007. It works fine through OWA.

 

I've opened connection status for Outlook ant it says Directory TCP/IP Established, Directory TCP/IP Established byt on the Mail it says TCP/IP Connecting and is as such asking for credentials.

 

This doesn't appear to be happening for everyone, and has come out of nowehere.

 

It's as though Outlook isn't passing over the logon username/password to Exchange.

 

Any help appreciated! And some EduHobnobs.

Sounds similar to something I saw here a couple of weeks ago, although may not be the problem for you. But just in case...

 

* Our Outlook shortcut pointed people to a *.prf file, so every time they opened Outlook it re-imported the settings

* Said *.prf file still referred to the old (and otherwise abandoned) e-mail server, which was still powered off after the weekend's planned outage

* Until said old server was powered on, and had the relevant services started, no-one could open e-mail through Outlook, but OWA was fine (as it didn't bother talking to the old server)

 

If it's only some users then it may be that they just have an outdated profile - try resetting it and forcing Outlook to reconnect and it might give it the appropriate nudge in the right direction?

Check that the clock is correct on the server and the workstations

Check that the exchange internal certificate hasnt expired
