Excel 2007 Strange problem

got a problem with Excel were by if you select data from say A2-A7 then hold down the ctrl key and select B2-B7 the B cell dont get selected, I have tried showing it in a screen shot below

Sorry what doesnt it select? the B cells look selected or do you mean the B2 cell (that also looks selected)?

I think you'll find it is selected. It's a different shade only to indicate it's the active cell.

problem is it doesnt as when you try to do a graph based on those cells the graph only picks up for set of cells highlighed

So if you copy and paste it only copies (in this case) A2-A7 and B3-B7?

not trying to copy and paste just highlight the cells,

 

so trying to highligh cells eg a1 to a10 then i hit the control key to highlight my next group of cells b1-b10 and it doesnt highligh them

Yeah i get that but i was just see if its affecting something else such as copy and paste. Can i confirm what isnt highlighted because on your screenshot it all looks highlighted so is it the B1-B10 cells thats not hightlighted/selected and what happens when you try to copy and paste?

I did figure that's what you were trying to do, so I tried a graph and I had both sets of data. What happens if you select two adjacent columns so you don't have to use ctrl?

works fine that way but if they have a sheet that has 10 columns and they only want 1,4,9 then you get the problem. really strange this, does it as a admin user and student and even rebuilt the work station
