Exchange Server 2003 - HDD Fail - Please Help

Morning guys,

 

22:00 last night (Tues 19th March 2007) looks like the school had a power cut. All the servers went down and re-booted fine, except the Windows 2003 Exchange Server.

 

This came up with \system32\ntoskrnl.exe is missing or corrupted. Please re-install this file and re-boot (or something similar) message.

 

I've re-booted with the Server 2003 install CD in and gone to copy this file back onto the HDD though the Recovery Console only to find that my Windows folder is not a folder000.chk folder and inside is all chk files.

 

So, I'm screwed in recovery for this. The HDD is also now marked as degraded, so I'm going to send that back for a replacement (Thanks Maxtor).

 

The HDD's are 2x Maxtor 160GB drives, running mirrored. Unfortunately, it looks like the borked Windows folder has been mirrored as well.

 

I know I'm going to have to re-build. I have the data backed up daily through an Iomega Rev Drive.

 

What steps do I need to take now. Do I just re-build the Exchange 2003 Server and give it the same name as it was before the crash? I'm stuck now and hope someone can help me. (Geoff / Ric_ ) or anyone else out there.

 

I hope someone can help, and this will be appreciated.

I've downloaded the document and printed it out. Looks good.

 

But... I can't find if I need to somehow remove the FUBARed Exchange 2003 Server from AD or just rebuild it with the same name?

 

Can anyone please shine any light on the subject for me?
