Safe files that can be excluded when backing up local home directories

Hi All,

We are currently in the process of reverting our iMac media suite (27 nodes, 10.5 & 10.6 mix) back to local home directories as they are now using both iMovie and Final Cut Express quite heavily and this is having quite an impact on both machine and network performance.

Our intention is to perform a scheduled dialy backup (rsync) at close of play to either an AFP or SMB sharepoint on our xserve (Mac Pro 10.5) which is on the same switch and VLAN as the iMac clients.

What I would like to know is what files can I safely exclude from the home directories in order to reduce overall size. I am currently considering these 2 directories as my start point:

~/Library/Caches

~/Library/Logs

However I would appreciate your thoughts on what files/directories you would consider safe to exclude in this type of backup strategy.
