Printer has lost its drivers

We've been having printer problems for a while, but this is new.

 

We have a couple of old HP LaserJet 1320's installed locally, then shared out. [1 for KS1 and 1 for KS2]

 

 

However, some of the computers here are failing to keep the drivers. If I try to go on the printer properties it says they aren't there, it "installs" them then opens the settings.

 

But if you close the properties bage and try to re-open it, it says it doesn't have the drivers again.

 

I've manually re-installed the drivers, checked they were there, rebooted, rebuilt, disconnected, reconnected and done everything short of offering a sacrifice to the HP Gods and the drivers still won't stay installed.

 

 

Anyone have any ideas?

If you install the drivers as an administrator (on RM CC3) does it work after you've rebooted, then re-logged on as administrator? Have you tried setting up the printer on a PC not running RM?

 

Have you tried the PCL5 drivers?

 

If you have a 1320n, you can network these instead of connecting them locally via USB. Just setup the printer accordingly on your print server.

Tried as both Admin and non-admin, reboots/relogs do squat.

 

I haven't tried on a non-cc3 machine, we don't have any and I can't spare one to un-RMify just to test this.

 

I've tried the PCL5, but that has the same problem.

 

We don't have a 1320n. Just the normal ones.

 

 

It's not even all the machines having a problem, it's only a few. But teachers "need" them, so...

Bit of longshot but a simple thing to try out install one with a PCL5 and the other with a postcript or PCL6 or just something different to the other printer might be a clash.

In my experience when something breaks in RM CC3, it's time to re-image those few machines. I'd say you've covered most things to try and fix the problem.
