daz666 Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Hi all, In blender the graphics program mapped drives and their contents are visable even when the contents are hidden you can still see the folders in blender. Does anyone know of a way to hide the mapped drives/folders so only the drives we want them to see are there in blender. Many Thanks daz666
mark100 Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Has anyone had any luck with this? Blender looks a great program just a real pain you cant change the default saving location.
graywoodford Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 anyone? been looking to package this on CC3 for a while but the mapped drives is the issue i keep facing. I was hoping in the newer release you would be able to configure this either in the software or in an ini file somewhere.
graywoodford Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Just wondering if anyone has had any luck with this yet? I have updated to the latest version and I am still seeing shares I want hidden
ChrisH Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 This is where windows UI based restrictions fall over if software is not using the standard API for dialog boxes etc.

Previous software I have used there have been awesome ini files that I could modify for this but it looks like most of blender is python scripts to me.
ChrisH Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 It would be vendor specific as you say with ini files etc. If permissions are set correctly though it should only be an annoyance and too much of an issue.
mavhc Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 What are you hiding in these drives? Why do you want it hidden? https://www.blender.org/manual/getting_started/installing_blender/directorylayout.html

You should be able to change the 'default save' location by changing the default scene (the last location saved to then becomes the default). After install that may be a per user thing but you should be able to overwrite the master copy of that.

Sorry, default save location is working for me via group policy so that is fine, I just want shared drives hidden that they don't normally see is all, thanks
mavhc Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Seems like you're stuck with that. Could try removing List Folder permission from C: and P: (Folder only, not recursive), be careful though
