Jamie_a Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I`ve had to set up a small network for and offsite provision and am i having i problem i think might be down to dns. When i try to connect the client pcs to the domain i get a long pause then a domain cannot be found error although the computer account is created on the 2003 server. if i use a made up username and password to join the domain I get a message saying inccorrect user name or password any ideas what i could try?
marco84 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Can you ping the DC? Have you checked the IP settings of the client PC and made sure DHCP is working?
Geoff Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 run netdiag on one of your clients and run dcdiag on your server and see if any problems are pinpointed.
Jamie_a Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Can you ping the DC? Have you checked the IP settings of the client PC and made sure DHCP is working? I can ping the dc, dhcp is being issued by a router and i`ve manully added the dc as a priamry dns server local to the workstations.
Jamie_a Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 run netdiag on one of your clients and run dcdiag on your server and see if any problems are pinpointed. Dcdiag gives the errors in the attached file and so does netdiag
Geoff Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 The netdiag error is because you're trying to run the Windows 2000 version of netdiag. Don't do that. It doesn't work. Use the version from the XP support tools instead.
