timbo343 Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I have got a test machine acting as a test server for SIMS and I have downloaded the update via Solus to see what would happen as I have heard that in some cases it effects Nova-T6. The trouble is now when I try to download it on the live server, the update isn’t there. Is there a way I can get the files from somewhere or get them put back on the capita server so I can download them again. Thanks
matt40k Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Contact Capita\LA and ask them to reauthorise the release for you. 1
woodham Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 If you can log onto capitas supportnet and look in the technical forum there is a link inside a thread titled ISO Download Andy
timzim Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 Download the Spring 2011 iso from Capita and run that instead. See KB108477 for more info and the password.
SHimmer45 Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 i think they might have patched NovaT6 as ran the update yesterday and the build number is one version higher than stated in the documentation
timbo343 Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 My SIMS LA support person has re-released it so all good, shall be running tonight. I have tested it on a test machine already and T6 seemed to run without any problems. Thanks for the responses though
Hecate Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I transfer the updates from my test server by copying the setups folder from the updated server and running dbupdate against it
vikpaw Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 @timbo343 , i find it's better to wait for and download the ISO for use on test servers, and then use SOLUS for the live server, as you may have other things waiting on the live server, like patches etc. that may need applying as well. It's just easier that way. The other alternative would be to download, but not run via SOLUS, then steal the files that have been downloaded.
timbo343 Posted May 7, 2011 Author Posted May 7, 2011 I noticed that the download files were in the exact same folders so like many have said, i could have put the downloaded files on the live server and run dbupgrade Oh well..
vikpaw Posted May 7, 2011 Posted May 7, 2011 Yep, but it's safer to do it the other way around, i don't know why, just is, rather than messing with and risking overwriting anything on the live server. It's all such a mess with version numbers and signature files all over the shop. At least you're sorted now. Update any issues in the other thread regarding the release.
NorthernSands Posted May 8, 2011 Posted May 8, 2011 I believe that there are filesets needed for PLASC etc that come down with SOLUS and not part of the update ISO. I'm with @vikpaw on this one, update the test system using the ISO and then use SOLUS for the live system.
