Hi!

What is diskperf.exe and how to get rid of it? In all of my 10 years of using XP, I have never noticed this application, now it uses half a GB of my RAM. Thanks!

diskperf.exe itself is a process built into the Operating System it is the 'Disk Performance Configuration Utility'. It is most likely then a disk performance issue that is causing diskperf.exe to kick in.

However it could well be that some sort of malware could be using the name diskperf.exe to disguise itself and this is the application you're seeing rather than the real diskperf. Equally possible is the fact that the real diskperf.exe could have been compromised by malware.

Is rebuilding the machine an option??
