yeah i know but i have come to the conclusion with Windows 7 there are a few bits likes this were you shouldnt need to do somthing but you have to get it to work

Sorry I had to do the gpo change for sp1 in order for it to work

I created a test user in AD on the 03 Server. "win7user"

I created a test group(03 server) "win7group"

I created a Test Gpo(03 server) titled "folderredirection" it's only goal is to redirect folders. I redirected the menu to

\\server\subfolder\start$\

within start$ there is a programs folder

My test group(test user is in that group) has full permission for these folders.

 

Thats what I started with. I have gone into both 03 server and created local GPO on Win 7 using MMC that disables both "Remove Users folders from the Start Menu." and "Force classic start menu"

 

I saw somewhere that the local GPO can redirect but under mine I dont see an option.

Your help is appreciated.
