Newton Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 Ive made a bit of a boo boo, Attempting to repair a windows system, I accendently started formatting the hDD, it got 20% before I stopped it. Does anyone know how I can recover the users data from the drive?
Irazmus Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 I had some luck with file recovery from an NTFS drive yesterday using ntfsundelete under Debian. The file system I was recovering from was intact which is probably why it worked so well. I suspect it would have been different if the inodes had been deleted, but it can't harm to try. 1
cromertech Posted April 27, 2011 Posted April 27, 2011 You can try this tool from Piriform. I've managed to recover some files from partially formatted drive with it before Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File and Disk Recovery - Free Download 1
